Las Vegas

We are back from a week at Las Vegas and we survived! Vegas is full on the whole time and a sensory assault, but it was wonderful. We stayed at the MGM Grand - reputedly the largest hotel in the world at the moment, soon to be toppled by another Las Vegas hotel - we were told. Neither DH or I are gamblers and we had G with us as well who was not allowed to 'loiter' in the gambling areas but we could spectate and enjoy visiting some of the fantastic hotels - each lobby area more spectacular than the last. My personal favourite is the Baccarat glass ceiling decorations at the Bellagio. We also took a side trip to the Grand Canyon - this was a tad grueling, being a 5 hour journey by tour bus - but worth it. The Grand Canyon is never disappointing. The highlight of our trip was definitely a performance of 'The Phantom of the Opera' - wonderfully Gothic - in a specially built theatre with a spectacular chandelier, which at one point hurtled dramatically down towards the audience.

Here are a couple of pictures of The Grand Canyon and one of 'The Strip' - Las Vegas Boulevard.
